Hernando Letters to the Editor for July 26

Re: Rethink the 14 percent property tax increase | July 19 letter

I totally agree with the letter about the tax increase.

Lord knows, we all spend money in all the stores and restaurants in town. There has been a healthy influx of new businesses and new homeowners. So why not increase the county sales tax to cover any deficit and make use of impact fees?

Why not decrease garbage pickup to one day a week?

Why not eliminate the outrageous Hernando County commissioner salaries. They only meet once every two weeks, and the rest of the time are working in their lucrative own businesses. How is it the taxpayers have no access to a referendum for increases?

My district commissioner does not represent me if he is in favor of property tax increases.
