TAMPA — The 31-year-old man sought in the fatal shooting of his apartment complex neighbor last weekend was located and arrested late Thursday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Kendrick James was arrested on charges of second-degree murder with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Deputies did not release any other details, such as how they found him or where they found him.

The investigation started when deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex at 13712 19th St. N just after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. There they learned that James had gotten into an altercation with a neighbor, which resulted in the neighborhood being wounded by gunfire.

A private vehicle took the wounded man to AdventHealth Tampa hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Sheriff's Office has not released his name and likely won't because of its interpretation of a constitutional amendment called Marsy's Law that went into effect in January.
