CLEARWATER — Northside Christian captured the Class A, District 15 tournament for the seventh straight time as the Mustangs shot a 298 for 10 over par at the Countryside Country Club. The only other team competing Monday was Indian Rocks Christian.

Northside’s A.J. Newell was the individual winner with 70. Teammates Michelle Butler and Anna Newell finished second and third with 74 and 75.

“We’re expecting to shoot a lot better at Bardmoor (Golf and Country Club), where regions will be next week, and that will set us up for a better seeding in states,” Northside Christian coach D.J. Jackson said. “We’ll have to shoot under par if we’re going to be able to compete with American Heritage (the three-time defending state champion) so it will be a good test for us.”

Danielle Grace finished with 79 to round out the scoring for the Mustangs. St. Petersburg Catholic’s Emily Swidock posted a career-best 76 to garner individual honors and advance to region play.
