Northside Christian won the Class A, Region 5 boys title on Tuesday with a one-hole playoff victory over Calvary Christian.

The Mustangs’ five golfers combined to make four pars and one bogey. The Warriors had just three golfers who made par. The playoff was needed  after both teams finished with 317 after 18 holes Monday at Bardmoor.

Both teams move on to next week’s state tournament in Ocala.

Also moving on, Steinbrenner senior Jordan Debonis edged junior teammate Trevor Joseph in a surreal sudden-death playoff to clinch the last individual state tournament berth.

Debonis and Joseph found themselves deadlocked for the last spot after each bogeyed the par-5 18th on Monday to finish at 4-over 76.

Starting on the back nine Tuesday, both earned par on the par-4 10th before Debonis’ second shot from the fringe on the par-3 11th set up a short putt he converted. Joseph bogeyed after his par putt — right on line — came up short.
