Shorecrest and Northside Christian are the fiercest of rivals with a season series that usually produces close games. Except this season. The Chargers swept the regular-season series, winning both games by a combined 24-4.
On Tuesday, it was more of the same as Shorecrest nabbed a 10-0 mercy-rule victory over the Mustangs in a Class 2A, District 11 semifinal at Out-of-Door. The Chargers, the defending 2A state finalists, advance to Thursday’s championship.
Jason Kiracofe picked up the win with a two-hit shutout. He also had a double and triple. Other Shorecrest players with extra-base hits included Jordan Lindsay, Brent Rasmussen and Andrew Roy, who each had doubles, and John Schiff with a triple.
