BRADENTON — Just like Tuesday’s region semifinal, Bayshore’s fate rested with Nikesh Srivastava.
But unlike that match, Srivastava faltered, and the Bruins failed to earn a return trip to the state tournament. Jesuit avenged last year’s region final loss to prevail 4-3.
Bayshore’s Tianyu Bao and Pedro Garcia won their singles matches at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, beating Jamie Sullivan and Jordan Nasser, respectively, and added a point in the No. 1 doubles match. But the outcome seemed inevitable once Srivastava dropped No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0 to Jesuit’s David Pagliarulo.
Jesuit cruised at No. 4 (T.R. Bopp def. Cameron Powell 6-0, 6-0) and No. 5 singles (Ryan Walden def. Timothy Williams 6-0, 6-0). And the No. 2 doubles team of Pagliarulo and Walden won 6-1, 6-1.
