Steinbrenner fell just short of its first team state appearance 4-3 to Lemon Bay, dropping the final decisive No. 2 doubles match Thursday in a Class 2A region matchup.

Warriors No. 1 Grace Korta and No. 2 Kaleigh Wagner won their singles matches and teamed to win No. 1 doubles.

But the Manta Rays won in Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles, each in straight sets.

In the decisive No. 2 doubles match, Lemon Bay’s Andrea Vorlicek and Amber Peretz clinched with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ally Berglund and Erika Smitten.
