TAMPA — Tampa Prep swept Santa Fe Christian in dominating fashion Tuesday night 25-8, 25-13, 25-7 in a Class 2A region quarterfinal.

“The mental mind-set the girls have in practice of making it to the final four again this year is really motivating them to perform to the best of their ability,” Tampa Prep coach Mike Flynn said.

The Terps were led by senior outside hitter Ericka McGriff’s 13 kills, who earned the praise of her coach.

“She has been in a lot of battles, she knows how to carry the team, and knows her role as a veteran,” said Flynn.

Taylor Mitchell, Shanna Krausman and Katie Krueger each had 10 blocks for Tampa Prep (10-16). Flynn said he would like to see a few adjustments before next week’s region quarterfinal.

“I think we need to take care of our first contact with the ball,” Flynn said. “If we do that we are a tough team to beat.”
