LAKELAND -- For the third year in a row, Indian Rocks Christian ended Lakeland Christian’s season 25-10, 25-12, 25-7 in a Class 2A region quarterfinal Tuesday night.
The Eagles (23-6) will play Tampa Prep in the region semifinals next week. The Terps topped the Golden Eagles last week for the district crown.
The Vikings, who had to reshuffle their lineup due to injuries during the season, finish 11-13.
The Vikings scored the first two points of the match, but the Eagles used the serving of co-captains Marisa Moralobo and Kindall Edwards to score 17 of the next 18 points and take the first game and control of the match.
"Mentally, I think we shut down tonight," Viking coach Allie Henderson said. " Due to the injuries, we had to put different girls in there and we learned a lot about our team."
"Serving has been our key all year long," Eagles coach Mark Foster said. "We have three main hitters (Moralobo, Edwards and Madi Loebel) and everybody feeds off of them."
