River Ridge needed to win both doubles matches when action resumed Wednesday in its Class 3A region semifinal girls tennis match at Orlando Edgewater.

The Royal Knights were able to grab only one and fell 4-3. River Ridge’s No. 1 doubles team of Tijana Subotic and Jordyn Garcia was able to close out Edgewater’s Sara Hatcher and Laura Lapp 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) to tie the match at 3-all.

The Royal Knights lost at No. 2 doubles, ending their season. River Ridge’s Taylor Laroue and Julie Quina trailed 3-1 in the third set when they resumed play against Edgewater’s Jackie Hichlich and Hailie Krzyzak. The Royal Knights’ duo was unable to grab a game in a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 loss.

“(Edgewater) got out to a quick start and we didn’t,” River Ridge coach Doug Howery said.
