LAKELAND — McKeel had just put four runs on the board in the third inning and seemed to have Tampa Catholic on its heels in Tuesday’s Class 3A region quarterfinal.

But once the Crusaders’ bats started cranking, there was nothing McKeel could do to turn the tide.

Tampa Catholic got 11 of its 15 hits in the final four innings, using them for 12 of its runs and a 14-7 victory over the Wildcats.
Cameron Alford was 3-for-5 with seven RBIs, including a three-run home run in the seventh. Nick Alfonso was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, and Gio Marrero was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Tampa Catholic (13-13).

Meanwhile, McKeel’s season ends at 18-8.

Brandon Snapp was 3-for-3 for McKeel. Jordan Rivera was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Brandon Weeks had two RBIs for McKeel.
