Largo already won its first district title and is sending its No. 1 singles player and No. 1 doubles team to state for the first time.

The rest of the team will join them as the Packers’ dream season continued Thursday with a convincing 4-1 victory over Hillsborough in a Class 3A region matchup.

Largo’s Kelly Taylor won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0. Other Packer wins came from Megan Louser (No. 2), Artemis Makris (No. 3) and Gabi Emery (No. 5).

“The girls have so focused on getting to Orlando for the state tournament,” Largo coach Mike Pease said. “We thought we had a pretty good shot at winning our district. But we didn’t know we would be this dominant at the region level. The girls played great tennis, and we had tremendous support.”
