Four Sunlake football players plan to sign with colleges this afternoon, Seahawks coach Bill Browning said.
ATH Rashaud Daniels and defensive end/fullback Jerome Samuels will sign with Central Methodist, an NAIA school in Fayette, Mo.
Daniels has lined up at almost every offensive skill position and defensive back and led the team in minutes played over the last three seasons. The speedy 5-foot-9, 175-pounder finished his career with 35 touchdowns, nine two-point conversions and seven interceptions.
Samuels, a bruising 6-foot-2, 230-pounder, led the Seahawks with 536 rushing yards last season. He also recorded 39 tackles and five sacks.
Central Methodist will get another Seahawk – QB Jacob Jackson.
The 2010 all-North Suncoast’s first-team quarterback threw for 1,258 yards and rushed for 1,058 more for Sunlake in 2010 as a senior. He originally signed with College of DuPage, an Illinois junior college, last May but is not listed on the team’s 2011 roster.
Jackson was also the Sunshine Athletic Conference’s 2010 Offensive Player of the Year.
All-North Suncoast linebacker Nick Morrison will sign with Morehead State, a Division I-AA program in Kentucky.
Morrison led the Seahawks in tackles for three years in a row and was an all-North Suncoast selection in back-to-back years. He finished his high school career with 366 tackles and nine fumble recoveries.
