Durant went on the road nearly two hours away Wednesday and beat Ocala Forest in five games, 22-25, 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 15-8.

Alison Wade led the Cougars (15-6) with 25 kills and Kerrie Reinhardt added 15.

“It was a good team win,” Durant coach Jeff Davis said. “You never really know what to expect when you go on the road and play a team that is as good as you are. They were good as I expected them to be. We played really well.”

The win earns the Cougars a rematch next week with district rival Riverview, which beat Durant in the district final.

“I don’t think it really matters who we play,” Davis said. “It’s the region semifinals and we want to get to states. It might be a sweet victory for us if we were to beat them, maybe some redemption, but I don’t think it matters.”
