The Week One injury report at Plant spans from encouraging to excruciating.
The senior season of DE/LB Max Baker has essentially ended before it began. According to Coach Robert Weiner, Baker sustained a torn ACL and MCL and displaced patella in Friday's 36-12 preseason victory against Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson.
An unheralded Panther widely admired in the locker room for his resilience, Baker was carted off the field. Leaving on his own power was senior QB Aaron Banks, who sustained a second-half hip pointer in his inaugural start.
"Aaron is 100-percent fine," Weiner said Monday.
Elsewhere, Brandon senior FB Cyrus Dooley is questionable for Saturday's game against Armwood, Coach Dean Eychner reported. Dooley, coming off a breakthrough junior season (700-plus yards), was upended after a long run in Friday's preseason victory against Blake. He exited the field on his own power.
