Academy at the Lakes senior Lauren Evans will play for the British junior national softball team for the second consecutive year, the Wildcats announced Tuesday morning.

The USF signee will compete in the European championships in the Netherlands this July. Last year, the shortstop batted .435 with four doubles and a home run for Britain in the world championships in Canada.

Evans, a dual citizen, leads the 10-2 Wildcats with 13 RBIs, two home runs and a .667 batting average. She was the top hitter in the North Suncoast last spring (.610 average) and was the player of the year as a sophomore.
