East Lake standouts Stephen Buric and Dillon DeBoer exemplify what it is to be a student-athlete. Both kids had stellar careers for the Eagles, and academics played an important role in where they signed their letter of intent.
"The academics and the good football were both deciding factors," said Buric, who signed with Yale. "I'm happy and I love it there.
It's practically like Hogwarts, with the buildings and everything. The school in general is awesome."
Coach Bob Hudson had plenty of heart-felt comments about his two players who gave it their all during an amazing playoff push this past season.
"You're looking at two kids; Stephen has a 4.4 going, Dillon has a 4.2 GPA, and it has been fantastic watching them grow and mature and reach the goals that they have set for themselves," Hudson said.
"Both had outstanding leadership at practice, and they've played a lot of football for us and won a lot of games for us."
DeBoer, who will play on the offensive line, signed with FAU over Lafayette and Webber, and the Owls' new coaching staff has him optimistic.
"I really like the new coaches, especially the offensive line coach (Luke Meadows) who recruited me, and I think it's going to be a good year," DeBoer said.
