Tarpon Springs RB Adrian Golden does not have a planned visit to Iowa State, contrary to what we reported yesterday.
Golden told the Times on Thursday he would trip to the school, which has been extremely active in our area during this recruiting cycle, next week. But Friday morning, Spongers coach George Kotis, who has been in contact with Cyclone coaches, said there are no plans at this time for Golden to visit ISU.
He did, however, say that the Cyclones remain very interested in Golden, who rushed for more than 1,500 yards last fall while helping Tarpon Springs reach the third round of the playoffs. Southern Mississippi also is interested, Kotis confirmed.
Golden said Thursday he still had a ways to go in the classroom to meet NCAA qualifying standards. If Golden doesn’t qualify, Kotis thinks his best -- and only -- option is to attend junior college. “Several of them have offered him a scholarship,” Kotis said.
