Admiral Farragut running back Cortavious Givens bruised his right hand in last week’s season-opening win over Lakeland Victory Christian but should be able to play Friday against Shorecrest.

Blue Jackets coach Chris Miller said Givens will have his hand checked out by doctors today.

“Cortavious banged it while playing defense,” Miller said. “He stayed in the game and has still been lifting weights. I think he’ll be fine. But he’ll get it checked out just to make sure.”

Givens missed most of last season after tearing his ACL. Still, that hasn’t deterred interest from colleges. Givens said via Twitter that he received 28 letters from FSU, as well as a personal letter from Georgia’s Mark Richt and an invitation to attend a game from Louisville’s Charlie Strong.
