Alonso defensive end Anthony Chickillo will make his college announcement on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at his high school, he said Thursday evening by text message.

Chickillo told the Times this week that his finalists are Florida State, Florida, Miami, USF, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Chickillo had 12.5 sacks last season despite missing five games with a collarbone injury. He also averaged 12 tackles a game.

Chickillo is ranked the eighth best weakside defensive end prospect in the nation and the 34th best overall recruit in the state by Rivals.com. He has about 40 Division I offers.
