Alonso senior defensive lineman Anthony Chickillo has been invited to play in the Under Armour All-American Game, he confirmed by text message on Friday.

According to the ESPN website, this year's Under Armour game will be played at Tropicana Field for the second straight season. It is slated to be played sometime in early January, 2011.

Along with the U.S. Army All-American game, they are the two top showcase games for high school senior football players.

Chickillo, who owns 45 scholarship offers, is ranked the eighth-best defensive end prospect in the nation by ESPN, whose recruiting experts help select the team.

Chickillo also participated in the U.S. Army All-American junior combine this offseason, which essentially serves as a tryout for the U.S. Army All-American Game. He might receive and invitation to play in that game, but Chickillo said he thinks he will play in the Under Armour game.

Chickillo also said he has received new offers from Ole Miss and Auburn on his recent summer college tour. He said both schools are in consideration.
