The Anclote-Gulf rivalry was already heating up after the teams battled in the county's first spring game in two decades back in May.
The rivalry grew a little deeper Tuesday when news broke that running back Kris Aratchiysky and quarterback Ty'Shon Peters transferred to Gulf.
Aratchiysky was the Sharks' leading rusher last season with 813 yards and four touchdowns. Peters transferred from Gulf to Anclote last spring. He sat out the spring with a hand injury, so his move will hardly be felt.
"Gulf's more of a family," Peters said of returning. "I feel like I have a better opportunity of playing in college at Gulf."
Aratchiysky, however, was expected to get the bulk of the carries for Anclote.
"I think if a kid doesn’t want to be at my school then don’t be at my school," Anclote coach Matt Wicks said. "(Aratchiysky) feels like he’s going to get a better shake there. He was our guy, and he was going to be our guy. It is what it is and we move forward."
