Anclote JV football coach Aaron Harris will become the Sharks’ new girls basketball coach, athletic director Heidi Michaels said Thursday morning.

Harris, a former Penn State football player, also teaches math at the high school. He’ll replace Bonnie Norman, who stepped down to pursue a master’s degree. Norman has continued to work with the girls while her successor was named.

“He’s very enthusiastic, very upbeat, very motivating,” Michaels said of Harris. “He’s very passionate about sports and athletics, and I think the girls need to go in that direction.”

Former Land O’Lakes and University of Tampa soccer player Shannon Aitken has been named the Sharks’ new boys basketball coach. She’s in the exceptional students education department at Anclote.

“She’s got a great knowledge in soccer,” Michaels said. “They need the structure, and I think she can offer that as well as a knowledge base.”

Michaels will be the girls weightlifting coach.
