Andre Mondor, who anchored the Plant offensive line during two state championship seasons, has committed to Liberty, Panthers coach Robert Weiner said.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pounder also considered Albany.

A three-year starter for the Panthers, Mondor won the Jimbo Kynes Award, given to the county's top lineman, last week.

A Division I-AA program, Liberty is a member of the Big South. The Flames went 8-3 in 2009 and won the conference title.

In Mondor’s final two seasons at Plant, the Panthers lost just twice.

During his freshman and sophomore seasons, he provided solid pass blocking for all-state QB Aaron Murray, who’s now at Georgia, and the Panthers’ throw-first offense. Last fall, Plant became more of a running team, and behind Mondor they rushed for 3,155 yards.
