Former Anclote and Gulf running back Kris Aratchiysky has signed with the NAIA's Graceland University (Iowa).
"It's just been such a difficult year but I'm so happy to get through it and finally sign with a school," Aratchiysky said. "Being able to only play five games in the season really hurt any schools looking at me, but I'm so grateful that Graceland is giving me this chance to continue playing football."
The 5-foot-10 tailback went through a tumultuous senior season after being ruled ineligible for the first five games by the Florida High School Athletic Association. The ruling was a result of Gulf's self-reporting that then Bucs coach Jay Fulmer had recruited Ty'Shon Peters and Aratchiysky from Anclote.
After Aratchiysky was ruled eligible to play again Oct. 6, he rushed for 660 yards on 94 carries. In 2009 at Anclote, Aratchiysky rushed for well over 800 yards and emerged as one of the North Suncoast's top backs.
