Armwood QB/WR Darryl Richardson, who had a grayshirt offer from UCLA, instead will sign with San Diego State on Wednesday, his mother told the Tampa Bay Times.
Richardson was returning Sunday afternoon from his visit to SDSU; Hawks coach Sean Callahan said he was contacted by Aztecs coaches a couple of days ago. Justin Hopkins, West Coast recruiting analyst for 247Sports, initially reported Richardson's commitment.
Originally recruited as a quarterback after transferring from Tampa Bay Tech in January 2011, Richardson projects as a tight end in college.
Teeming with physical upside (6-foot-5, 220 pounds), Richardson threw for more than 1,800 yards and 20 touchdowns his two years with Armwood. He moved to receiver midway through the '12 season, catching five passes for 82 yards and a pair of TDs.
