With Florida, Georgia and Alabama already in on Armwood RB Matt Jones, Tennessee jumped in Friday and made the Hawk rising junior an offer.
Jones, a 6-2, 200-pound back with power and speed, is looking like he might be 2012's top recruit.
Last season, Jones rushed for 618 yards and 8 touchdowns. He was expected to have a breakthrough season, but missed one game and was hampered in others due to a high ankle sprain. He was unable to go fullspeed in three playoff games as the Hawks advanced to the region final.
Jones said recently at practice that his ankle was 100 percent healed. With a new offensive coordinator in the fold at Armwood, Jones is expected to carry more of the load this season.
