Armwood WR Richard Jules, one of the team’s leading receivers in 2009, has committed to Gardner-Webb, Hawks coach Sean Callahan said today.
The 6-foot, 168-pound Jules had 19 catches for 329 yards and four TDs as a senior.
Gardner-Webb, a Division I-AA program that plays in the Big South Conference, went 6-5 last fall and placed fourth in the league.
Gardner-Webb played two I-A teams in 2009 -- N.C. State and Buffalo.
Jules had multi-catch games seven times last fall.
His best outing was a three-catch, 70-yard, one-TD effort in a win over East Bay. He also had three receptions against Chamberlain, Gaither and Wharton.
He scored twice against Newsome -- on two catches.
