Armwood senior Brandon Teeling, a converted defensive lineman who started at left tackle for the Hawks' Class 6A state title team this past season, has committed to Samford University.

Teeling couldn't immediately be reached Tuesday morning, but Hawks coach Sean Callahan confirmed Teeling had settled on the FCS (Division I-AA) program in Birmingham, Ala.

Moved to offense in the offseason, Teeling (6-foot-3, 280 pounds) was a fixture at left tackle for Armwood (15-0), which averaged 220 rushing yards a game in 2011. Callahan said the Bulldogs recruited Teeling as an offensive lineman, but are open to him playing on the other side as well.

Samford, 6-5 last season, is coached by former Auburn quarterback (and 1971 Heisman Trophy winner) Pat Sullivan and is the alma mater of Bobby Bowden.
