Bloomingdale P Cody Crouse has committed to FIU, he said Thursday. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound Bulls ace was drawn in by the school's Miami location and his relationship with the coaches.
"I like where the program is going, and I want to help them build it up," he said.
Crouse, a Times' second-team all-county selection, posted a 1.56 ERA in 67.1 innings in the area's toughest district. He went 8-2 for the Bulls (22-4) and also struck out 56 while walking 18. Crouse also started his season with an 18-inning stretch in which he yielded no earned runs. He was Bloomingdale's starting quarterback last season but stopped playing football this spring to focus solely on baseball.
The Panthers, currently in the Sun Belt Conference, will join Conference USA in July 2013.
