Land O’Lakes pitcher Brad Hencke is one of a handful of local players honored by the FACA District 10 baseball coaches.

The Gators lefty and University of Tampa recruit was the Class 6A, District 10 player of the year. Bishop McLaughlin infielder Tyler Cooler was named the top player in Class 3A, District 10, and Hernando shortstop and recent UF commit Christian Arroyo earned Class 5A, District 10 honors.

They all earned nominations to all-state teams and were joined by pitcher Brandon Lawson (Hernando), catcher Jake Johnson (Hernando), infielder Tommy Tambasco (Nature Coast) and Jose Alonzo (Nature Coast).

The District 10 coaches of the year were Calvin Baisley (6A, Land O’Lakes) and Tom LoSauro (3A, Bishop McLaughlin).

Fivay’s Justin Kunick, who has been absent from the team because of his bout with stage IV cancer, was honored by District 10 as its 5A coach of the year. His Falcons play in Class 5A, District 8.
