East Lake baseball coach Dan Genna has resigned after five seasons at the school. Genna was 102-39 while at East Lake and led the Eagles to the Class 7A state final in 2014. He will remain a teacher at the school.

"I feel this is the best time to step away from the program," Genna said. "I just don't want to do the all-year grind."

Genna, who has three children under the age of 7, will remain a teacher at the school. Prior to joining East Lake, he coached for seven seasons at Tarpon Springs. He led the Spongers to the region playoffs in 2004 and '05.

Genna, 46, has 234 career wins, including head coaching stints at Bartow and Tarpon Springs.

East Lake athletic coordinator Tim O'Keefe said the school has not started the process of replacing Genna. Athletic director Ruth Riel retired at the end of the school year, so East Lake must find her replacement before moving forward, O'Keefe said.
