Baseball: Ellis, Grubb, Taylor pick community colleges

Plant catcher Ryan Ellis, King OF Michael Taylor and King RHP Drew Grubb have all committed to play baseball at state colleges, King coach Jim Macaluso and Plant coach Dennis Braun said.

Ellis, who is headed to St. Petersburg College, hit .329 last year as a junior, adding 18 RBI and five doubles. For the Lions last season, Michael Taylor, who has commited to play at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala., hit .344 with 19 RBI and 12 runs scored.

Grubb will attend and play for Iowa Lakes Community College. Last season he posted a 1.41 ERA and 5-1 record, striking out 27 in 43 1/3 inning pitched.
