After winning a pair of district titles and two region semifinal berths, Hernando Christian Academy announced the resignation of Scott Boer on Monday.
The school also announced football assistant Mike D'Ambrosio would replace Boer as the head baseball coach.
Boer resigned after he accepted a new job with another organization, according to the release.
HCA athletic director Mike Drummond said Boer asked him not to disclose the nature of his new job other than to say it was in retail and would require him to work up to 60 hours a week.
"He just didn't feel like he could get here after school," Drummond said. "Fortunately, we had a guy in our backyard that had extensive baseball experience. It will be a smooth transition."
D'Ambrosio graduated from Citrus in 1987. He played football and baseball at Upper Iowa University where he graduated in 1991. He also coached varsity football and baseball at Elkton (Md.) Christian Academy from 2004-08.
