Baseball super seven
Records through Wednesday
1. Jesuit (18-0): Won first two games of the Easter Tournament by a combined score of 12-1, proving the Tigers can dominate out-of-state opponents, too.
2. Steinbrenner (15-1): Cole Gordon leads the county with six homers, including the game winner in a big district win over Gaither last week.
3. King (14-3): Lions have already clinched the top seed in District 6A-11, taking a three-game lead over second-place Strawberry Crest.
4. Brandon (14-4): Pulled out a 2-1 win over Riverview Tuesday, the Eagles’ closest game in their five-game win streak.
5. Newsome (13-5): After completing a regular-season sweep of Durant, the Wolves will play for the top spot in District 8A-7 against Alonso on Friday.
6. Durant (13-5): Tyler Danish ran his scoreless streak to 50 innings against Newsome on Tuesday, though he took his first loss of the season.
7. Hillsborough (13-5): Since a 10-3 loss to district leader Brandon, the Terriers have won four straight by a total of seven runs.
In the conversation: Strawberry Crest (15-6), Bloomingdale (13-6), Plant (11-6), Tampa Catholic (12-8), Robinson (10-8).
