Baseball: Tampa Catholic P/1B Luke Helms commits to Santa Fe College

Tampa Catholic 1B/P Luke Helms has committed to Santa Fe College, a junior college in Gainesville. Helms, who transferred from Alonso before his junior year, hit .308 with five home runs, four doubles, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored for the Crusaders (16-9-1), who advanced to the Class 4A region semifinals.

Additionally, Helms pitched 34 2/3 innings for Tampa Catholic, going 3-2 with two saves and a 2.42 ERA. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound lefty struck out 41 batters while walking 26.
