Berkeley Prep's powerhouse volleyball program opens the 2011 season as one of the top teams in the country.

The back-to-back Class 3A state champion Buccaneers are ranked No. 2 in the nation in MaxPreps' preseason rankings.

Although Berkeley jumps up to 4A this year, the site writes: “Berkeley Prep still figures to have one of the top teams in the country with MaxPreps All-American candidate Jordan Burgess (6-0), a senior outside hitter, and senior setter Mackenzie Dagostino.”

Defending 5A state champion East Lake starts the year at No. 13 on MaxPreps’ list after posting a 29-2 record last year.

Plant is ranked No. 17 by the site after five consecutive state titles.
