Bethune-Cookman is the latest college program to offer a scholarship to Hernando ATH Tyrail Hawkins, the Leopards senior said Friday night.

The Wildcats are recruiting Hawkins as a defensive back.

Hawkins was a first team all-North Suncoast selection last fall and has become one of Tampa Bay’s most versatile players. He’s thrown for four touchdowns as a quarterback, rushed for seven more scores and caught a 72-yard TD pass in Friday night’s 14-7 win over Nature Coast. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Hawkins has three interceptions and 12 passes defended this season.

He also has offers from Ball State, Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern.
