Caelin Campbell, who scored a team-high 23 goals for the Bishop McLaughlin boys soccer team this season, has committed to LaGrange College.

Hurricanes coach John Mayer said that LaGrange is looking at Campbell mostly in defense. For Bishop McLaughlin, Campbell played outside midfielder, but he’s a defender on his club team.

“He really enjoyed (LaGrange) and enjoyed meeting the coaching staff,” Mayer said.

Campbell also considered Emory and Henry College, Lynchburg Collegeand Florida Southern.

Campbell added seven assists to his 2010-11 tally and finished as the Hurricanes’ team leader in points with 53.

Campbell was a St. Petersburg Times’ all-North Suncoast honorable mention selection following a senior year in which he helped Bishop McLaughlin to an 18-6 record and a spot in the postseason.

LaGrange College is a Division III school located in LaGrange, Ga.
