Bishop McLaughlin outside hitter Aileen Hnatiuk will become the school’s second Division I volleyball signee.

Hnatiuk has orally committed to East Carolina and plans to sign with the Conference USA program in two weeks, Hurricanes coach Doug Chinchar said Thursday morning.

The 6-foot senior is a standout blocker finished her senior season with 352 kills (4.7 per game) and 120 blocks. Hnatiuk helped the Hurricanes reach the Class 3A region quarterfinals last fall.

She will become the second Bishop volleyball player to sign a D-I scholarship, after Jessica Johnson went to Norfolk State in 2012. Hurricanes junior Alyssa Mathis has already committed to San Diego State.
