Boca Ciega guard D.J. White, who is coming back from a torn ACL, will most likely resume playing in mid-December, Pirates coach Randy Shuman said.
White, one of the top recruits in the 2013 class, was injured in late spring during an AAU tournament.
"From all indications, the plan is to have D.J. back the first month of the season," Shuman said. "About the only thing he's having trouble with right now is stopping."
As a sophomore last season, White was listed by ESPN as the top shooting guard in the state and the 24th best in the nation.
White, the son of former Boca Ciega All-American David White, has been an AAU standout for years. This past season, he helped the Pirates to a conference title before they were upset in the district semifinals. White is one of the top players returning for Boca Ciega. He most likely will miss seven games, which will include a key contest against neighboring rival Gibbs.
