The challenge for Gulf's David Ramirez has been adjusting to three coaches in three seasons.

Somehow, he managed to transition from a halftcourt style to an up-tempo offense to basically whatever he wants as a senior.

Through it all, Ramirez has consistently produced culminating in Tuesday's performance when he reached the 1,000-point plateau in a 63-61 overtime win at Pasco.

Ramirez scored 39 points in the victory including a 3-pointer in regulation to send the game into overtime. He entered the season needing to average 18 points to get to 1,000. So far, he is averaging 29.1 points per game.

"I think it's remarkable that he scored 1,000 and he's only been here three years," Gulf coach Buck DeWitt said. "He had three different styles, three different methods and three different terminologies. I think it shows the type of player he is."
