Seminole continues to roll through regionals, notching its second straight shutout with a 3-0 victory over Naples Gulf Coast in the 4A regional final.

The Warhawks (19-2-2) led 1-0 after the first half on a goal by Nathan Yeager on an Eric Sines cross. Liam Murphy and Garrett Bocon each scored in the second half, and goalkeeper Kenneth Matthews made two key saves to preserve the shutout.

Seminole coach Rick Masi scouted Gulf Coast and was ready for its team speed and style of play. What he wasn’t ready for was the team’s Astroturf field, which was wider and longer than high school football fields.

“We get off the bus and it’s Astroturf,” Masi said. “And it’s 120 yards long and about 80 yards wide. We weren’t ready for that.

“It took us some time to adjust, not only to the field but their speed and aggressiveness. They were the fastest team we’ve played all year. But I’m very proud of the way our team played and kept their focus.”

The Warhawks outshot Gulf Coast 9-6. They have outscored three regional opponents 16-1.
