Berkeley Prep soccer standout T.J. Roehn, the Times' reigning Hillsborough County player of the year, confirmed this morning he has committed to USF.

An explosive 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward, Roehn tallied 26 goals and 21 assists as a junior, leading the Buccaneers to the Class 3A state title game. In the past two seasons, he has totaled 46 goals despite surgery before his junior season for a sports hernia that sidelined him for a handful of contests.

"It was between (USF) and Pitt really, but I chose USF because their soccer program's been great," said Roehn, who also had considered Villanova and Bucknell. "They won the Big East last year and their facilities are awesome."

Roehn, projected as a target forward in college, may formally sign with the Bulls on Feb. 2.
