Calvary Christian's bye week came at an opportune time after quarterback Allen Barnes broke his collarbone in last week's preseason loss to Lakeland Santa Fe Catholic.
Barnes was injured in the third quarter. He will not need surgery and will most likely be back in six weeks.
"It's tough, but we'll use this week to prepare," Calvary coach Dave Bonchi said.
The loss of Barnes is blow to the Warriors, who planned to showcase the dual-threat athlete in an option-based attack. Last year, Barnes, who transferred from,Largo, threw for 619 and eight touchdowns and ran for 538 and two more scores.
Jeremy Wood, a freshman, will take over at running back. Calvary will rely more on a running game that includes Alex Leonard and Stephen Rice.
