Cambridge announces first hall of fame class

The Cambridge Christian School Athletic Hall of Fame will honor its inaugural class -- four individuals and two teams -- at an induction ceremony Friday morning at the school gymnasium.

The hall's Class of 2012 includes Frank Taylor (Class of '92), Kristen Taylor Berger ('96), Melissa Tapia ('97) and John Beckel ('00).

Additionally, the Lancers' 1997 (pictured) and '98 softball teams, which won back-to-back Class A state titles when the school still was known as Seminole Presbyterian, will be recognized.

Taylor was a baseball, basketball and soccer standout for the Lancers. Taylor Berger and Tapia led the girls basketball team to the school's first district title in any sport in 1994, a district softball title in the spring of '95 and a district volleyball crown that fall.

Tapia also was the ace of the '97 state championship softball team. Beckel was a Lancers basketball, soccer and golf standout.

In addition to Friday morning's ceremony, the inductees also will be recognized on the field before the Lancers' homecoming game that night at Skyway Park.
