Cambridge senior pitcher/centerfielder Derek Self has committed to Webber International, his father Jim Self said in an email.

Self, who helped the Lancers Class 1A state title game after playing at Seffner Christian previously, was 6-0 with a 2.27 ERA last season in 37 innings pitched. As Cambridge's starting centerfielder and leadoff hitter, Self also hit .342 with 35 runs scored, 14 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. He will have the chance to both pitch and play outfield in college, Jim Self said.

Self chose Webber over Palm Beach Atlantic, mainly because of the coaches there and proximity to Webber's Lake Wales campus.
