Canterbury capped off its football season by routing Ocala St. John Lutheran 48-7 Saturday in the championship game of the Sunshine State Athletic Conference.

Brent O’Neil rushed for 139 yards on 10 carries, and James Goodwin had a 66-yard reception on a screen pass for a score. Bryce Wilson also came up big on defense and special teams, returning an interception for a touchdown and scoring on a punt return.

The Crusaders have won nine straight games, the longest streak in the county. Two weeks ago, they knocked off previously undefeated Carrollwood Day to clinch the south division of the independent SSAC.

The divisional matchup with Carrollwood Day was considered more of a title game considering Canterbury had beaten St. John Lutheran 54-6 during the regular season. But St. John Lutheran entered the title game with a four-game win streak.
