Canterbury running back Brent O'Neal committed to the Citadel on Sunday, Crusaders coach Bill Jones said.

O'Neal will sign Feb.1.

Last week, O'Neal narrowed his list to three schools: Citadel, Navy and Presbyterian. He visited the Citadel this weekend and made his decision before taking any other trips.

"Brent just really liked it up there, and he'll get a chance to play right away as a freshman," Jones said.

This past season, O'Neal shined as the Crusaders featured back, rushing for than 1,800 yards and scoring 35 touchdowns. He also helped lead Canterbury to its first district title and playoff victory.
