Just eight games into the baseball season, Gulf is down a coach. Darryl Stidham resigned last week, according to Gulf athletic director Travis DeWalt.

Gulf has named Tom Carter, also the Bucs' football coach, as the interim coach. An ad was posted today about the job and DeWalt said the school hopes to name a coach sometime next week, with students and teachers returning to school from spring break.

DeWalt said Stidham did not have the necessary time to coach the team, as he has taken a full-time teaching job at Genesis Prep and is also the athletic director at the school. Stidham was named Gulf coach on Feb. 9, replacing Shaun Weimer, who resigned to spend more time with his family. Gulf went 0-8 during Stidham's short tenure as coach.
